Our Story
Our story began when Dr. Philip Hemmers was a child on Long Island. He suffered from terrible hay fever, experiencing firsthand the frustration of symptoms. It was the life-changing power of allergy shots that inspired Dr. Hemmers to pursue a career in allergy, dedicated to improving lives.
At Mount Sinai Medical Center and Long Island College Hospital, Dr. Hemmers received rigorous training in allergy and immunology, equipping him with the expertise to tackle complex allergic and immune conditions. In 2005, he moved to Connecticut, joining a well-established practice in Bridgeport. There, he honed his skills, learning from seasoned colleagues while building a reputation for his dedication to patients. However, Dr. Hemmers envisioned something more — a practice that could combine cutting-edge science with a deeply personal approach. In 2009, he took a bold step, founding the Allergy Center of Connecticut with its first office in Norwalk. The office quickly became a trusted resource for patients seeking relief from allergies, asthma, and immune disorders, offering innovative treatments like oral immunotherapy and biologics alongside time-honored solutions.
The demand for Dr. Hemmers’ compassionate, science-driven approach grew, and in 2014, he expanded the Allergy Center of Connecticut with a second office in Shelton. This milestone allowed the practice to serve more communities, bringing advanced diagnostics, personalized treatment plans, and a warm, welcoming environment to patients across Fairfield County.
Meet Our Providers
Our team includes a board-certified allergist and immunologist, and a physician assistant who bring together extensive clinical experience and a deep understanding of allergy-related conditions.
Dr. Philip Hemmers, DO, FAAAAI, has been practicing medicine for over 20 years. He specializes in environmental and food allergies, and is known for expertise and holistic approach.
Our physician assistant, Martin Ronan, offers informed care with a focus on identifying allergies and providing relief.
